Andong Jjimdak (안동 찜닭) is a braised chicken dish. 찜 means “steamed” or “boiled/braised” while 닭 means chicken.
Braised in a soy sauce-based liquid, Andong Jjimdak is usually cooked with other ingredients such as carrots, potatoes, leafy greens etc.
It is believed that jjim dak originated from Andong, South Korea. So much so that there is a chain of restaurants in South Korea named Andong JJim Dak.
